Lois Musgrave
Lois Musgrave came to gymnastics relatively late in life. In 1965 her daughter, Kim Bonus - current owner of Will-Moor Gymnastics, joined the Mannettes of Philadelphia, coached by Bill Coco. Bill became Lois’ mentor and her love for gymnastics began to blossom at the age of 39.
She first focused on the technical aspect of the sport, becoming a judge. That led her into the basics of coaching and she began to progress rapidly in her understanding of gymnastics.
In 1967 she opened recreational tumbling programs in Willingboro and Moorestown, and soon thereafter formed the Willingboro National Gymnastics Team. Blessed with a prodigious intelligence she consumed every bit of knowledge that she could find, reaching out to experts throughout the country to learn as much as possible. She became extremely proficient in all aspects of gymnastics and quickly built a national reputation.
In 1972 she convinced her husband, John that having a gymnastics business was not an insane idea, and together they opened Will-Moor School of Gymnastics in September of 1972. The idea of Will-Moor was that Southern New Jersey needed a place where gymnasts could learn high level competitive gymnastics without having to leave their homes to reach their goals, and this could be done in a place that paid attention to the whole athlete.
Lois believed fervently in nurturing the mind, body, and soul of her athletes. It is why they have such reverence for her still. Lois Musgrave believed that every child was special. She coached every child that she encountered with that belief, and it became the motto of her business.
